Quo Vadis Language Instruction:
On the Threshold of New Forms of Teaching
Thursday, March 4, 2021 to Friday, March 5, 2021
on the platform aks-intern
The use of digital teaching tools and methods to improve and enhance teaching has been a long-term goal of all institutions of higher education. Since March 2020, SARS-CoV-2 has been accelerating our efforts to achieve this goal, even if this has been an involuntary measure. We now find ourselves in the second ‘corona semester’ that is almost exclusively comprised of digital teaching, which we have been able to develop based on our wealth of experience last spring and summer. This shift to online instruction should not be the exception, but the rule, and will hopefully add momentum to the digitization of teaching by combining sustainable innovations with trusted methods.
These experiences with online instruction should serve as a springboard for reflection and for consideration of the challenges that accompany these digital developments. Fittingly, the AKS invites you to participate in a collegial exchange on effective new methods with the aim of incorporating these best practices into language instruction in higher education. You will also have the opportunity to discuss the future of language instruction and to develop concepts and ideas for successful blended learning.
